A French Air Traffic Controllers strike announced for next week, which would have thrown lots of travel plans into chaos once again, has been called off, after the union representing workers announced that an agreement had “finally” been reached.
The strike action was set to last for three consecutive days, on 28, 29 and 30 September, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week.
As in all the previous strikes, the capacity over French airspace was set to be readjusted, resulting in cancellations and delays and all routes.
The union reported reaching an agreement with France’s aviation authority, the DGAC.
The strike had been called by the Syndicat National des Contrôleurs du Trafic Aérien (SNCTA) union, which represents the majority of Air Traffic Controllers in France, and was over pay and working conditions, as the union states that inflation was eroding worker pay and called for wage increases and more recruitment.
