Energy Saving Law Boosts Automatic Door Sales
The demand for automatic doors for any premises with direct access from the street has skyrocketed since August to comply with the energy saving plan of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, which is benefiting door manufacturers and installers, while complicating the lives of the small shops.
The royal decree on energy saving that the Executive approved at the beginning of August provides for measures such as limiting the temperature of air conditioning and heating, as well as requiring the installation of an automatic door closing system before September 30 to prevent waste power when they are open.
This last measure mainly affects stores, supermarkets, shopping centres, theatres, cinemas, auditoriums, exhibition halls, bars, restaurants and cafes.
The company Manusa, based in Barcelona and leader in Spain in the manufacture of this type of door, has noticed the impact of the new standard and has seen the demand for its products increase by 30% since the return of the summer holidays.
“Demand and interest began to be felt at the end of August. And since then, it has been very dynamic and is growing week by week,” CEO of Manusa, José Medina, explained.
Despite the avalanche of orders they are receiving, Medina has assured that the company has sufficient capacity to assume this extra workload and has pointed out that, for the time being, delivery times are maintained, which are around 4 weeks.
The company, with factories in Valls (Tarragona) and Polinyà (Barcelona), sells its products in 90 countries and has subsidiaries in Portugal and Brazil, as well as in China, where it has a production centre to supply that region. The firm also has production centres throughout the Spanish geography where the product is assembled.
