The trial will be held in León from today, Monday, against 15 members of the same family who are accused of being involved in a drug distribution networks, for which the Prosecutor is asking for sentences of between 4 and 15 years in prison and fines that exceed 200,000 euro per person.
Between April 5, 2020 and at least until October of that same year, a total of 15 people “related to each other mainly by family ties” dedicated themselves “professionally, permanently, hierarchically and with a vocation of permanence to the cultivation massive marijuana plantations indoors, either in homes or in spaces set up as a greenhouse for that purpose. In addition, the substance they cultivated was put on the market for their “illicit enrichment.” For this reason, which the prosecutor explains in his indictment, these 15 people will sit in the dock of the Provincial Court of León this Monday and Tuesday, as “authors” of crimes against public health, continued fraud of electricity and illegal possession of weapons.
The Prosecutor’s Office emphasises that this group was detected for the first time in a single-family home that had been purchased and put in the name of one of the defendants that was fully equipped “for the massive cultivation of marijuana.” It was also in this home that “collaboration” was detected in the cultivation work by “close relatives”.
Once the Security Forces and Corps entered the house, the document states that 410 budded marijuana plants, three air conditioners, nine exhaust fans, 12 fans, 43 lamps, crops, 43 electrical transformers, four thermo-hygrometers, two electrical panels, seven fertilizer canisters, a sprayer and several metres of flexible air extraction tube were found. The value in the illicit market of the found substance was valued at more than 19,000 euro and the fraud carried out with the illegal connection to the electric current was calculated at 15,523.77 euro.
Searches were carried out in other premises, resulting in more drugs, money and weapons being found.
