The Criminal Court number 1 of Lugo will try this Friday, April 21, a woman accused of repeatedly mistreating her son.

According to the prosecution brief, the woman lived with her 17-year-old son between the months of September and October 2021, “repeatedly maintaining violent and aggressive behaviour towards him.”

During this period, on October 12, the defendant began to assault the minor “giving him several blows, with punches, in various parts of the body, pulling his hair, scratching him and biting him,” the letter explains.

In addition, she tried to hit him on the head with a hammer, which was unsuccessful, and she did manage to attack him with a glass cup and a screwdriver, which she stabbed into his left hand.

The next day, the prosecutor continues, “the defendant assaulted her son again” inside her home, “punching him in the leg.”

The Public Ministry considers the facts constituting two crimes of mistreatment in the family environment, for which reason it requests two years in prison for the woman and a ban on approaching her son for a period of six years.
