The First Section of the Provincial Court of Palma will hear evidence from Tuesday in the trial against a 29-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing a girl, taking advantage of the fact that she was drunk.
The events, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, occurred in October 2020, around 8:00 p.m., when the boy was in a Mahón pub with several friends and met the victim, who was also with her friends. Both groups then began to engage in conversation while consuming alcoholic beverages, including shots, until they left the premises, around 9:00 p.m.
Shortly after, the prosecutor continues in his brief, both groups met again in a bar in the port of Mahón and they all sat together at a table on the terrace, once again consuming alcohol.
At one point during the night, the victim began to feel dizzy, even falling off her chair and telling her friends that she wanted to go home. However, the girl finally left the premises in the company of the defendant.
The Public Ministry maintains that the man, taking advantage of the victim’s drunken state, got in his car with her and drove to the other side of the port, away from people. Once there, he sexually abused her.
Then he took her again to the end of the port and stopped the car and the victim got out, wearing only the defendant’s sweatshirt, without underwear and in a state of confusion. In addition, the man left the place, throwing the victim’s clothes there, and she stayed wandering around the port until a friend of hers found her and helped her.
The Prosecutor’s Office considers the facts constituting a crime of sexual abuse and requests for the defendant six years in prison, eight years of probation and the prohibition of approaching less than 100 metres or communicating with the victim for 12 years. In addition, he requests that he compensate the girl in the amount of 15,000 euro.
