The fishing vessel, NUEVO JUAN JESÚS, called for assistance on Wednesday when the fishing gear had become tangled in the rudder.
The boat, with 9 crew onboard, was some 17 miles south east of Alicante when the skipper called for help.
The Salvamento Maritimo sent a rescue ship to assist which towed the stricken vessel to the port in Alicante where it could be repaired.
