The Second Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands will hear about the case today, Tuesday, in a pre-trial hearing against a woman accused of keeping 9,580 euro from her ex-partner’s bank account, taking advantage of the fact that she still had access to the account.

In his indictment, the prosecutor details that, having been sentimental partners for eight years, the woman was authorised to access the victim’s bank account, allowing her to manage 25 percent of her income in order to pay the personal expenses that the injured party himself may have. The remaining 75 percent was destined for the residence for the elderly in which he was admitted.

Using this context, the Prosecutor’s Office continues, the woman regularly withdrew money from her ex-partner’s account and used the debit card linked to it to cover her own whims, getting to the amount of 9,580 euro.

Consequently, the man was left in a precarious economic situation, which meant that he could not afford, for more than a year, the monthly payments for the residence for the elderly in which he is living.

According to the Public Ministry, the facts constitute a crime of misappropriation, for which reason it requests three and a half years in prison for the accused, a fine of 2,700 euro and that she compensate the victim in the appropriate amount.
