The second section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña will begin to hear evidence from today, Friday, against five members of a gang for alleged robberies in bars and restaurants in the municipality of Arteixo, which occurred in 2020.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests between 12 and 15 years in prison for crimes such as robbery with violence and intimidation, robbery with force, and attempted robbery with violence. Three of them had criminal records. The modus operandi was to act at dawn with their faces covered while one of them was in charge of driving and waited outside the premises watching.
The first of the robberies occurred in February 2020, when this group robbed a bar at dawn in Vilarrodís, Arteixo (A Coruña). They entered with their faces covered and pointed a blank pistol at the employee who was closing the premises, in addition to threatening her with a metal mace.
The woman agreed to lie down on the ground, but one of them pushed her and kicked her in the leg. Thus, they stole 1,037 euro from the cash register and destroyed the arcade machine with the mace to take 1,200 euro.
At dawn on March 2, they robbed a bar in plaza Manuel Murguía, Arteixo, where they broke the frame and glass of the door with their hammer. Here, they were made with money from the cash register, arcade and betting machine, among others, for a value of about 1,500 euro.
On March 9, 2020, this gang of five people took more than 1,500 euro between an arcade machine, cash register and cash from a restaurant in Uxes, in Arteixo, in addition to a couple of hams.
At midnight from March 14 to 15, 2020, they tried to rob a petrol station in Iñás, Oleiros, but the employee noticed their presence and notified the Guardia Civil, which dissuaded them and they left the place.
Finally, at dawn from March 17 to 18 of that same year, the robbers returned to the Uxes restaurant, where they unlocked the door, although the alarm caused them to leave the place.
The Guardia Civil of Cambre arrested four of the members on May 22 of that year in the vicinity of the building where they lived in Pastoriza, Arteixo. The mace was found, a metal bucket from Estrella Galicia stolen from the first bar to keep the money, the gun, as well as the clothes used in the robberies. A few days later, the driver of the gang in charge of the escapes was arrested.
