Iberia has received the final new Airbus A320neo of their latest order, which is number 16 in the fleet, and is carrying the name of the Real Aero Club de España engraved on the nose.
It is a tradition for Iberia to use aviation-related names on aircraft of this model, with other A320neo planes bearing names such as “Patrulla Águila”, which might be a concern as they are the aerobatic group, along with “Getafe, cradle of aviation”, “Amelia Earhart”, and “María Pepa Colomer”.
RACE thanked Iberia for “recognising the Royal Aero Club of Spain to place this entity among the main figures in aviation”.
This aircraft is the A320neo number 16 for Iberia. In addition, it has been the first to come from the Airbus factory in Toulouse with 5% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a further step towards the decarbonisation of air transport.
The A320neo is the most technologically advanced and efficient aircraft in Iberia’s short and medium haul fleet. Equipped with CFM Leap-1A type engines, it is 50% quieter and between 15% and 20% more respectful of the environment, emitting 5,000 fewer tons of CO2 per year and 50% less NOx.
