Following on from complaints from consumer associations over the lack of refunds and acknowledgement from the organisers of the Reggaeton Beach Festival, cancelled as they failed to satisfy minimum safety standards, the Ministry of Culture and Sports has now sent a communication to the organisers telling them to activate the return of the tickets purchased with the Youth Cultural Bonus after the cancellation of the festival.
The Ministry thus takes the initiative after being informed, through several beneficiaries of the Young Cultural Bonus, that the company says it is not responsible for the refund.
The Ministry has reminded the organisers that, according to the regulations of the Youth Cultural Bonus, the member companies are obliged to repay the money by the same means with which the payment was made.
This is stated in article 7 of Order CUD/987/2022, of October 18, which modifies Order CUD/673/2022, of July 13, which textually establishes: “When, for reasons attributable to the member entity or, where appropriate, to its suppliers or service providers, it is impossible to deliver the cultural product or provide the cultural service or activity, once the corresponding amount has been paid by the beneficiary, the aforementioned amount must be refunded in the same means by which the payment was made.
The Youth Cultural Bonus card works like a prepaid card, so the refund of the ticket price follows the same process as with any other bank card.
