European motorbike sales increase 11 percent

Motorcycle registrations in five of the largest European markets (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) reached 600,784 units during the first half of 2023.

This represents an increase of 11.3% compared to the same period in 2022, where 539,644 units were registered.

Motorcycle registration volumes increased significantly in Spain, with an increase of 9.2% and 108,501 units sold.

Only Italy and Germany exceeded this growth, with a year-on-year increase of 19.1% (192,497 units), and 10.1% (129,964 units), respectively. France (116,224 units, +7.5%) also showed an upward trend, while the United Kingdom (59,741 units, -0.9%), volumes remained broadly stable.

Moped registrations reached a total volume of 99,782 units in the six European moped markets monitored by ACEM (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain). This volume of registrations represents an overall reduction of 25.8% compared to last year (134,503 units), a general trend in the supervised countries, except Belgium, which grew by 2.8%.
