Social Security registered 2,614,921 foreign affiliates in July, after discounting seasonality and the calendar effect. They represent 7,308 affiliates more than a month before. Since February 2020, before the impact of the pandemic, the system has recorded an increase of more than 425,500 workers from other countries.
This figure represents 12.6% of all Social Security affiliates in July in seasonally adjusted terms.
In average terms and without seasonal adjustment, that is, in the original series, Social Security registered 2,695,240 foreign affiliates this month, which represents 3,365 fewer affiliates compared to June. Of the total, 887,531 workers come from European Union countries (33%) and 1,807,709 from third countries (the remaining 67%). The largest employed groups are from Romania (341,964), Morocco (311,417), Italy (182,964), Colombia (168,520) and Venezuela (145,224). Of the group, 55.6% are men, while 44.4% are women.
In the last twelve months, the average affiliation of foreign workers has grown by 9.9%, that is, it has added 243,748 employed persons.
Among other nationalities, there are 66,300 affiliates from Ukraine. This is 19,064 more than in January 2022, when the war had not yet started, which represents a growth of 40.3%.
The majority of workers from Ukraine, around 87.7%, are in the General Scheme (they are salaried) and 12.2% are self-employed.
Overall, 86.6% of foreign affiliates fall under the General Regime and total 2,268,138. In July, most sectors of this regime increased. Those that added the most jobs were Water Supply (7.3%), Household Activities (6.3%), Administrative Activities (4.5%) Hospitality (3.9%) and Sanitary Activities (3.9%). On the other hand, the number of affiliates in Education (-18.8%) and Agriculture (-2.9%) fell. It also decreased in the Special Agrarian System (-12.4%) and in the Home (-1.2%).
For its part, the Self-Employed Regime recorded 425,185 foreign affiliates. Of all the self-employed, 14.9% come from China, 11% from Romania and 9% from Italy.
