Forest fires burn 80,000 hectares

From the beginning of the year until September 10, forest area affected by fires rose to 79,770 hectares (ha).

Although there is positive news that this figure represents a decrease of 68% compared to the same period in 2022 (253,046 ha), it is practically the same figure to the average of the last 10 years (80,049).

In total, 18 large fires have been recorded (affected area greater than 500 ha), a figure higher than the average of the last 10 years (17) and lower than that of 2022 (56).
