The Provincial Court judges this Friday a man accused of robbing a Santander bank branch on two occasions in 2022, brandishing a gun and hiding with a mask, for which the Prosecutor’s Office requests six years in prison.
According to the prosecutor’s qualification letter, with which the defence has agreed, the robber acted in this way in May and June of last year in two Kutxabank offices in the Cantabrian capital.
On both occasions he put on a mask with the intention of not being identified and brandished a gun that turned out to be a toy, but which he “intended to appear real,” demanding the delivery of money. In both cases, the accused had 600 euro.
The Prosecutor’s Office explains that the accused suffers from psychosis due to drug use that requires permanent psychiatric treatment and reduces his volitional and cognitive abilities.
The sentence requested for two crimes of robbery with intimidation in an establishment open to the public amounts to six years in prison. In addition, he asks that he be sentenced to pay compensation to the bank of 1,200 euro.
The trial will be held in the First Section of the Provincial Court of Cantabria, starting at 1:15 p.m.
