A trial will be held in the Alicante Court starting on Tuesday, expected to run through to March next year, with a total of 17 people accused of being part of a criminal organisation specialised in drug trafficking.

The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that during 2020 the defendants were part of a perfectly organised gang that was dedicated to introducing large quantities of drugs into Spain, especially hashish, which they transported from Malaga to Alicante, where they distributed, stored and separated them to later send to France.

After the police seized part of the drugs during one of the transfers, the leaders of the network suspected that a ‘ turnover’ had occurred, that is, a theft of the merchandise between criminal groups, for which they held a man against his will as bail, until they discovered that the drugs had been seized by the Guardia Civil.

The Prosecutor’s Office initially requests sentences ranging between 7 and 18 and a half years in prison for the crimes of belonging to a criminal organisation, crime against public health and kidnapping.

The trial will start on December 12 and will continue on December 19 and on January 15, 16 and 23, February 5, 6 and 13 and March 4, 5 and 27.
