The Equality Crisis Committee analysed the sexist murders confirmed by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence in the month of November. These are four women and a girl, four of them murdered in Madrid and one in the Valencian Community.
The meeting focused on analysing the murders one by one, with all the details and from different perspectives, in order to strengthen coordination between the different administrations and improve the inter-institutional response.
After analysing the cases, the Committee has agreed on the need to influence the victims’ environment, so that they become aware of the situation and report the cases of which they are aware. Furthermore, among other issues, it has been concluded that it is necessary to continue advancing in specialised training in gender perspective in the professions involved in these cases.
The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, thanked the institutions and administrations involved for their work: “The objective is joint, is to continue advancing in the coordination and improvement of the system.”
This is the seventh crisis committee held since its approval, at the Sectoral Equality Conference on July 22, 2022. Representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Health have participated, along with the Ministry of Equality. The Prosecutor’s Office of the Delegated Chamber of Violence against Women, the Coordination Units against violence against women and the Violence against Women Units of the autonomous communities in which the murders have occurred – Community of Madrid and Valencian Community have also attended- as well as representatives of the rest of the autonomous communities.
Crisis Committees are convened when more than five murders due to gender violence and vicarious violence occur in a month.
