The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal group specialised in robberies with force using techniques such as smash and grab, and ram-raiding, within the framework of operation ‘Cerbero Necky’.
The seven detainees, who are credited with being responsible for more than 40 robberies in different establishments in the Community of Madrid, were using previously stolen large displacement vehicles.
The criminal group was one of the most active in Madrid. So much so that it was perfectly structured and had as its leader a well-known criminal from Madrid with an extensive criminal history. To date, the group is responsible for a total of forty criminal acts in different locations in the Community of Madrid, committing an average of five robberies per night.
They usually acted between 01:00 and 06:00, and to gain access inside, they violated the locking systems of the establishments, mainly by forcing the closures with crowbars or breaking the windows with sledgehammers.
To do this, they used high-end, large-displacement vehicles that had previously been stolen. In fact, the detainees are being investigated for their possible involvement in the theft of at least twenty vehicles in the last quarter.
The arrests took place in the municipalities of Anchuelo and Alcalá de Henares and seven entries and home searches were carried out in which the Guardia Civil seized 12,000 euro in cash, tools for the theft of vehicles and the subsequent commission of the acts and numerous effects from the crimes investigated.
The detainees are seven men, aged between 26 and 48, who have more than 115 records for crimes related to property. Now, in addition, they are accused of several crimes of belonging to a criminal group, robbery with force in commercial establishments, theft of motor vehicles and falsification of documents for which, after being placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, their imprisonment was ordered.
