The Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office requests four years in prison for APC, a National Police inspector stationed in Coslada, who retired during the judicial investigation phase, who allegedly dedicated himself to unjustifiably and without permission consulting police databases to pass information on to several friends, among whom were a businessman, a lawyer, a bar waitress and the owner of a nightclub that he frequented in San Fernando de Henares.

He also, allegedly, provided information to other hospitality businessmen, depending on the development of the investigations. The representative of the Public Ministry charges him with a crime of infidelity in the custody of documents and another of violation of secrets.

The indictment maintains that APC, an inspector of the Local Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police Corps stationed at the Coslada police station, proceeded without authorisation to make up to 1,339 queries to police databases for private purposes to facilitate information to his acquaintances.

Thus, from October 25, 2019 to December 18, 2019, the accused made inquiries to police databases “without any of them being justified by reasons of position or service” to disclose the information to third parties outside the police service, “delivering printed queries by hand and even outside the police station.”

For example, at the request of a friend of his who ran a hostess club in the San Fernando de Henares Industrial Park that he himself used to frequent, he made inquiries about the complaints of gender violence, the file and police records were delivered in person at the club located in San Fernando de Henares.

On another occasion, he met in the office of a lawyer friend where 26 queries in police databases that affected personal data of the lawyer and others were made. The accused also made inquiries at police databases at the request of different friends related to personal data, police or vehicle records. The trial will be held next Wednesday in the Fourth Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid.

Although the inspector is now retired, he is not exempt from criminal responsibility because during the investigation he was carrying out his duties. A businessman, the owner of the brothel, the waitress of a local establishment and a lawyer were also investigated in this case. However, the case was filed for all of them.
