Government increases rice and tomato aid

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published a new resolution granting aid to 2,458 owners of agricultural holdings of dry land, rice and industrial tomatoes, for a total amount of 7 million euro, to compensate for the difficulties due to drought and war in Ukraine. The aid will be deposited into the farmers’ bank accounts during the first fortnight of May.

With this new payment, the amount of this State aid paid by the Government now rises to 258.9 million euro, from which 133,946 farmers have benefited, which represents 96% of the total budget of this line.

This aid was approved by the Government through Royal Decree-Law 4/2023, of May 11, by which urgent measures were adopted in agricultural and water matters in response to the drought and the worsening of the conditions of the derived primary sector of the conflict in Ukraine and the weather conditions.

The list of owners of agricultural holdings that will receive this aid, along with the number of eligible hectares and the amount of aid to be received can be consulted on the notice board of the electronic headquarters of the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund.

The owners that appear in this concession resolution are those who were already included in the one published on March 20, but who were denied payment because they were not up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and who were granted a period of one month to regularise their situation.

The published resolution also includes those holders who have been denied payment because it was detected that they are not up to date with their tax or Social Security obligations.

This resolution does not include the owners who presented some type of allegation that, due to its complexity, have been sent to the corresponding autonomous communities for analysis and study. Subsequently, they will be resolved and, if appropriate, the aid will be paid.
