The government of Spain has said that there are currently no plans to change the law relating to smoking, which prohibits the consumption of tobacco in all enclosed public places.
The answer was a direct response to a parliamentary question relating to previous considerations given to allowing smoking in the Eurovegas casino, as they were more concerned over investment opportunities over health, following meetings between the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy and American tycoon, Sheldon Adelson, in late May
In a written reply to a question by the party spokesperson of the UPyD, Rosa Díez, the executive said, “At present the Government is not planning any proposal for the purpose of amending the law 42/2010”, and that the Government, through the Ministry of Health,”"has the promotion of citizens’ health and the prevention of diseases caused by smoking as a priority”.
