12/09/2013. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) climbed 0.3% month-on-month in August, which compares with an increase of 0.6% a year ago. According to the data published on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (Spanish acronym: INE), the year-on-year rate has fallen by 0.3% to now stand at 1.5%. To a great extent, this moderation in the year-on-year rate of inflation can be explained by the performance of prices in the energy and service sectors.
