People Traffickers Arrested
The National Police in Spain have successfully dismantled a network dedicated to trafficking Albanian citizens into the UK, arresting 97 people in the province of Barcelona and the airports at Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca.
Members of the network would deliver a batch of fake passports, residence permits and other documents, whilst those in Barcelona took care of hotel reservations and airline tickets and guided the immigrants in the shipment process to avoid detection.
The investigation began in November last year when border agents of the National Police detected a significant increase in the flow of ethnic Albanians in transit through Spain and with their final destination being the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The officers seized more than 100 counterfeit documents such as identity cards, residence permits, student cards and driving licenses from Italy, Romania, Greece, France, Belgium, Bulgaria and Slovenia.
