Cruz Roja Making Beaches Accessible to All

According to a statement from the Cruz Roja, 14,955 people with reduced mobility have used specially adapted access points along the beaches of the Costa Blanca and Valencia region this summer.

To that figure, we must also add those who have visited beaches served by private contractors. The Cruz Roja look after a total of 28 of the 85 access points located in 46 coastal municipalities of the region, which covers 80% of the coast.

Compared to last summer, the Cruz Roja figures show a considerable increase from the 10,532 who were helped in 2017.

“The presence of the Red Cross on beaches allows us to exercise our commitment to the most vulnerable people, in this case with reduced mobility, facilitating their bathing in the sea,” according to the vice president of the organisation in the Valencian Community, Francisco Galvañ.
