The Ministry of Justice, Interior and Public Administration has awarded the works in which it will invest 1.4 million euro in the renovation of the entire electrical and air conditioning system of the Pardo Gimeno courts in Alicante. The execution period of this project will be six months and the actions will begin in January.
In this way, the integral replacement of all the lighting in the building will be carried out, in which LED-type luminaires and high-performance equipment that generate less energy consumption will be installed. This action has a budget of 1,040,953 euro.
On the other hand, photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of the building for a value of 49,275 euro that will help reduce the conventional energy consumption of the Alicante courts. Finally, the modernisation of the air conditioning system of the judicial headquarters will be undertaken for an amount of 298,128 euro.
These works are part of the Energy Efficiency program of the Ministry of Justice, Interior and Public Administration to transform judicial headquarters into sustainable buildings and which has the financing and support of the European Union thanks to the Feder and Jessica programs.
In 2021 the Department of Justice has carried out actions to reduce the carbon footprint of more than 14 judicial buildings with an investment of close to 10 million euro. With them, the electricity bill has been reduced by 12%, although the goal for 2025 is to reduce it by 25%.
