The Department of Universal Health in Valencia has published in the Contracting Platform the tender to launch the new social health information system for an amount of 7 million euro.
The creation of this information system, which supports the new Electronic Social Health Space, is the result of the collaboration agreement signed between the Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Model and the Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health.
The main objective of this system is to create an area of convergence of two closely related fields, the social field and the health field, in a way that allows obtaining a comprehensive and global vision of the needs of the population in these two fields.
It is a unique Electronic Social Health Space, which will collect, on the one hand, the information generated and integrated in the Electronic Medical Record of any patient treated in the public health network of the Valencian Community, such as clinical reports, tests performed or vaccinations, among other aspects.
On the other hand, this platform will integrate the information generated by the new Electronic Social History, that is, the care received in any of the resources of the Generalitat’s social services.
Therefore, the SIP card assigned to each citizen will be the unique identifier of both sources of information, so that both health and social services personnel will be able to obtain a global vision of the care they have received in any of care resources, both health and social based on the permits that have been defined.
In addition, the new system will make it possible to offer citizens better health and social care at any of the existing levels of care, both in hospitals, health centres, specialised care centres, basic social services, support units, residential centres, and other resources.
Thanks to this new information platform, greater optimisation is achieved in the management of human and material resources, since it avoids the creation of unnecessary duplications, such as the case of a test or assessment report that each patient needs and that already has been done before.
The Regional Secretary for Health Efficiency and Technology, Concha Andrés, highlights this project as “one more step towards a comprehensive care focused on the person that, in addition, will allow a qualitative leap in the advancement of personalized health care, of special importance attending to the aging of the population and to the particularities of chronic patients, being able to adapt the health care provided to their needs or social circumstances, whether temporary or permanent “.
The project will be funded by the Digital Health Efficiency and Sustainability Program of the Ministry of Health and meets the objectives of the GENDigital 2025 Strategic Plan.
