The Provincial Court of Almería will host the oral hearing today, Monday, against a couple accused of trying to hide drugs under the seats of a taxi and throwing various types of drugs out of the vehicle window when noticing the presence of a police control in which they were identified.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests four and a half years in prison for the pair for a crime against public health with substances that cause serious damage to health, since different amounts of heroin and cocaine were found among the seized narcotics, according to the provisional brief of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The events took place at around 1:34 p.m. on June 19, 2019 when the couple were in a taxi in the town of Adra (Almería) at a roundabout near the junction with the A-7 motorway.
When the vehicle approached a checkpoint set up by Guardia Civil agents, the accused proceeded to hide different amounts of drugs under the car seat and throw them onto the road.
Specifically, 5.04 grams of heroin, with a purity of 15.4 percent valued at 412.84 euro, and 9.45 grams of cocaine with a purity of 39.77 percent, whose total economic value amounts to 894.52 euro.
In addition to the custodial sentences, the Public Ministry is interested in imposing a fine of 2,683.56 euro.
