The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) has reached 661,338 households in which 1,921,747 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) until the end of July.
This benefit, which is paid by Social Security, is having a special impact on reducing child poverty since, of the total number of beneficiaries, 43% are minors (831,208). In addition, if we take into account the number of households, in more than 67% there is at least one minor (447,176).
According to these data, in two out of three households the holder of the benefit is a woman and, if the total number of beneficiaries is taken into account, 54% are women (1,037,764).
Regarding the number of benefits with the Child Aid Supplement (CAPI), there are already 395,086. The CAPI, which entered into force in January 2022, is an aid of 115 euro per household per month in the case of children from 0 to 3 years old; 80.5 euro per month for each child between 3 and 6 years of age and 57.5 euro per month for each child between 6 and 18 years of age.
