The ministers of culture of the European Union, who meet informally tomorrow in Cáceres, will visit the Helga de Alvear Museum on Monday afternoon, which houses one of the best collections of contemporary art in Europe.
The Minister of Culture and Sports of Spain, Miquel Iceta, will host this event, which has been included in the agenda planned for the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
It is planned that the 29 delegations traveling to Cáceres – from the 27 member states of the EU in addition to the delegations of the European Commission and the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU – will visit the museum and, subsequently, if weather conditions permit, they will walk through the historic centre of the city of Cáceres.
On Tuesday, the 26th, the day’s program will take place at the San Francisco cultural complex from early in the morning where, after the arrival of the European delegations, a first work session will take place under the title ‘Culture as essential public good, as a global public good’.
After a family photo, the second work session titled ‘Sustainable management of cultural heritage: its universal access and its structuring role of the territory’ will be held to subsequently sign what will be called ‘Declaration of Cáceres’, in which a defence of European culture will be made.
The ministers will stay at the Atrio and Casa Paredes hotels, and an official dinner is planned for Monday night at the Torre de Sande restaurant.
