The Guardia Civil has arrested two people and investigated three others for their alleged involvement in the theft of 56 tons of extra virgin olive oil in an oil mill in the town of Carcabuey (Córdoba).
The investigation began at the end of August when the Guardia Civil learned of the robbery of 56,000 kilos of extra virgin olive oil in an oil mill in Carcabuey.
The investigators verified that the detainees had great knowledge in the manipulation of oil tanks, the machinery and the mechanisms for extracting it. The alleged perpetrators also chose precisely the warehouse that contained extra virgin olive oil, so the agents deduced that these people were related to the oil sector.
The various investigations led to the inspection of several oil mills and cooperatives, close to the company where the theft had been committed, due to suspicions that the oil could not have been transported far and with the aim of preventing its introduction into the market.
In one of these inspections the Guardia Civil found the stolen oil and verified how those responsible for this oil mill had falsified the documentation to justify its possession.
The agents immobilised and sealed the oil and, after inspecting the premises, arrested the owner of the oil mill and a former worker of the injured company. Three people have also been investigated for their alleged participation in the events.
The detainees, along with the oil and the proceedings, have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
