Man facing 3 years in prison for hateful Facebook posts
The hate crimes section of the Valencia Provincial Prosecutor’s Office requests a three-year prison sentence for a man accused of publishing false information about the immigrant group on social networks to spread rejection.
The Prosecutor’s Office attributes to the accused, against whom the opening of oral proceedings is of interest, a crime committed on the occasion of the exercise of fundamental rights and public liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.
Along with the prison sentence, the prosecutor requests that the accused pay a fine of 3,600 euro; special disqualification for educational profession or trade, in the field of teaching, sports and free time for a period of 6 years; and the confiscation and closure of the social network publication if it had not been done previously.
The events date back to between February 5 and May 1, 2022, when the accused published information on his Facebook social network account in which he attributed to the immigrant group, especially of Muslim origin, the commission of crimes.
These publications, the prosecutor adds, were intended to spread rejection, contempt, hostility and animosity towards the immigrant group. In addition, false data were recorded to achieve their purpose.
