Mabrian, a leading tourism intelligence company, has published data on the 10 countries with the best international air connectivity during the first half of 2024. This ranking reflects the outbound travel potential of these nations, positioning them as key objectives in the global travel panorama.
The analysis, based on airline flight schedules, reveals a significant evolution in the connectivity landscape. The study covers travel dates from January 1 to June 30, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
In the area of markets, significant progress in connectivity between Europe and China stands out. Specifically, European countries such as Spain, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, which no longer require a tourist visa to travel to China, are experiencing a notable increase in connectivity, collectively offering 1.98 million airline seats, marking an impressive 190% increase compared to the first half of 2023 (682,000 seats). This increase is supported by the recent measure announced by the Chinese Foreign Ministry to encourage the return of European tourism, allowing citizens of Spain and four other European Union countries to enter China without a visa for stays of up to 15 days.
Top 5 countries with the best international connectivity:
United States: 83,540,022 seats

Carlos Cendra, Director of Marketing and Communication at Mabrian comments on the importance of this information “Knowing in advance the potential of the markets of origin in terms of their outbound air connectivity, is a key factor to identify where the tourist demand and opportunities will be most relevant for destinations and tourism companies globally. However, it is essential to analyse each destination specifically.”
Gavin Eccles, director of GE Consulting, a company specialised in air connectivity, comments that “US airlines are betting heavily on their international strategy, showing a considerable increase in seats on transatlantic flights to Europe. The robust source markets of the United Kingdom and Germany are also showing a solid recovery. The resurgence of China stands out with a significant number of routes and seats, which could make 2024 surpass the international connections of 2019. In addition, the influence of Emirates and Etihad is reflected in the important offer of international seats through the Emirates “United Arabs, consolidating Dubai and Abu Dhabi as outstanding global centres.”
