Two criminal cases against women to be heard in Alicante today

On Monday, the Alicante Court judges a man for whom the Prosecutor’s Office is provisionally requesting sentences of nine years and twelve months in prison for a crime of sexual assault and another of coercion in the field of gender violence.

The Public Ministry maintains in its statement of provisional conclusions that the accused “sexually attacked his wife taking advantage of the fact that she was sleeping” at the family home in the Alicante town of Altea, on December 27, 2022.

That same day, according to the public accusation, the man, in order to coerce the victim not to leave the relationship, went out into the street and “began to hit himself on the head against the wall”, and “cut his legs with a knife”, while insistently saying that he was going to kill himself.

In a separate case, the Provincial Court also judges a man accused of raping a woman on December 3, 2022 in Alicante.

The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that around 8:30 in the morning, when the woman was about to get on a bus, the defendant snatched the mobile phone from her hand and ran towards an area of bushes.

The victim went after him to recover it and, during the chase, she ended up on the ground, which the defendant took advantage of to force her sexually.

The Prosecutor’s Office initially requests a seven-year prison sentence for him for the crime of rape.
