According to the latest data from the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, the national average value of accumulated rainfall since the beginning of the hydrological year (October 1, 2023) until September 17, 2024 is 640 l/m 2, which represents around 4% more than the normal value for that period (617 l/m 2).
The accumulated amounts are below their normal values in the eastern third of the peninsula along with both archipelagos and the strip that runs through the eastern half of Asturias and Cantabria.
They are especially low in an area in the eastern peninsula, from Almería to the south of Castellón, where less than half of the precipitation has been recorded compared to its average value for the reference period (between 1991 and 2020).
