Spain and Brazil Push for Global Taxation of the Super-Rich

On the sidelines of the FfD4 conference in Seville, Spain and Brazil have launched a joint initiative advocating for more effective global taxation of the super-rich to address extreme inequality.

Their proposal, titled ‘Effective Taxation of High-Net-Worth Individuals. Taxes on the Super-Rich,’ aims to foster a multilateral debate on progressive tax systems where the wealthiest contribute their fair share, as they argue that current inequality threatens public trust in democracy.

The initiative seeks to build on the Seville Consensus and even considers the development of a global wealth registry for greater transparency.
