On Thursday14 March the Villjoyosa rugby stadium will host a Ladies International Rugby Sevens tournament. The tournament will take place between 15:00 and 20:00, with teams participating from Spain, France, Germany, Russia and Tunisia.
This tournament will serve as preparation for the Rugby Sevens World Cup due to take place in Moscow on 29 and 30 June.
The draw for the World Cup finals took place in February, with four teams competing in each group. Tunisia are in Group A along with Holland, New Zealand and Canada. Spain were drawn in Group C against the U.S.A., Brazil and Fiji.
Russia and France, both fielding sides at the Alicante tournament this week, will go on to face one another in Group D, with England and Japan completing their opposition. Although Germany did not qualify for the world cup, they come to the tournament as a rival not to be underestimated.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see some high quality ladies rugby, with some of the best teams in the world competing against each other. With free admission to the ground, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
