Russia claimed victory at the Ladies International Rugby Sevens Tournament at La Vila on Thursday 14 February, beating France 38-7 to win the Gold cup. The Russians demonstrated why they are strong candidates to win the Sevens World Cup in Moscow in June, delighting the crowd with some impressive rugby.
For their part, Spain won the Silver plate against Russia B, the final result 43-0. Spanish captain Marina Bravo and her teammates showed some great play and enthusiasm, and hope to maintain their form at the upcoming championship.
The Spanish side recently achieved some impressive results in Dubai, where they defeated teams from Australia, South Africa, Russia and Brazil. The ladies now return to their local clubs to compete in the final stages of the Ladies Honour Division, where INEF Barcelona play for the title against C.R Majadahonda.
In the Bronze final, Germany achieved a 31-0 victory over Tunisia. Despite not qualifying for the Word cup, the Germans produced some excellent rugby and look to continue their progression as an emerging team, whilst Tunisia also showed signs of advancement to the next level of International rugby.
