Police officers from Barcelona have arrested a man, 31 year old identified as Jesús Lorenzo BB, who has a history of armed robbery, after he failed to rob a supermarket in Santa Margarida de Montbui. Masked and armed, the man entered the store and threatened the shop assistant, demanding money. In panic, the shop assistant ran away, failing to open the cash register before doing so. Now alone and without his booty, Jesús attempted to smash the till open using his gun, which resulted in the magazine from the weapon becoming detached as the cash register stood its ground and refused to open. Having failed on both counts, now realising the shop assistant ran to summon help, the robber then fled the scene, only to be identified the day after, and remanded in custody by a judge.

Officers from the National Police have arrested eleven people in Madrid, all thought to be associated with a gang who would drug clients at nightclubs, where “hostesses and prostitutes” would administer narcotics, enabling them to rob them of cash and belongings. In some cases, clients remained “zombie like” for several hours, having up to 40,000 euro charged on their credit cards, of which a total of 330,000 euro is known to have been taken, from the 17 complaints that officers received, although officers are not ruling out that there may be more victims who are possibly reluctant to come forward.

The Guardia Civil will be auctioning some 3,400 handguns and rifles in their latest drive to reallocate weapons which have been seized in various police actions or deposited by the former owners who no longer wanted to have them. The first auction will take place on the 15th of April in Ourense, where 337 guns are on offer, there will be 400 for sale in Albacete, 448 in Salamanca, with smaller lots available to licensed gun owners in Cáceres, Zamora, Además, La Rioja, Gijón, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Burgos and Tarragona.

The provincial court of Madrid has sentenced a man to ten years in prison, and awarded 300,000 euro compensation to a homeless man who was beaten into a coma by a group of four people whilst he slept in a photo booth in August 2009. Mykhaylo T was considered to be the perpetrator of the crime, but responsibility was also given to the other three, Javier RB, María Leticia GD and Iván LG, as they failed to offer any assistance to the injured man. As a result of the injuries sustained in the attack, the victim took 541 days to heal and is still undergoing therapy.

The courts of Pontevedra in Vigo has sentenced a man to a total of eighteen and a half years in prison for the robbery and rape of his 74 year old aunt, who lived in a caravan, in an incident dating back to 2007. The man has also been recently convicted of 19 years in prison for the rape of an octogenarian in a case dating back to 2010. In the 2007 case, the assailant entered the property of the woman, covering her face, he brutally raped her, causing bruising and stress, and then stole her bank card and 30 euro in cash. It was only during the case relating to the 2010 incident that amplified suspicion on the man, which was further complicated by the fact he has an identical twin, although the prosecution were in no doubt over the accuracy of the evidence confirming the suspect to be guilty. The man has also been ordered to pay 20,000 euro in compensation, and return the 30 euro stolen in the incident.

The Supreme Court has upheld the acquittal of an offence of continual sexual abuse filed against a man who practices as a “Shamen”, in which he performed procedures that resulted in him kissing the genitals of his female patients in order to treat them for a variety of problems. Peruvian, Carlos Clever, performed various rituals in Seville in 2010, offering courses and classes to women who all “volunteered” for the treatment, in which, “there was no aggression, no intimidation, no sense of deprivation of women, who were not in a situation that would deprive them of their ability of self-determination”, according to the ruling.

A Barcelona police officer was injured when he was shot in the leg in a freak incident during a search and chase through the night-time city streets. However, the suspect they were trying to apprehend was a wild boar which had been seen “calmly” walking through the streets of the city, and in an even more bizarre twist, the officer was shot by his partner, after the boar failed to stop when the officers attempted to question the individual to ascertain the reasons for being on the streets at that time of night. Sadly, the animal was shot and killed by the officers, as they considered it to be a threat to the public who were in the path of the escape route of the fleeing suspect.
