A tracking and tracing application that was installed on a stolen mobile phone allowed the victim to tell the police the route followed the robbers, from Málaga to Córdoba, where they were finally arrested.
The investigation was initiated following several reports of robberies from the interior of vehicles in the province of Málaga, from one of which the mobile telephone was taken, on which a program of real-time positioning was installed.
Thanks to this application, the victim knew through your personal computer the exact location of the offenders, who travelled by car on the A-92 and left her car abandoned in a field in an industrial estate in Fuente de Piedra, Málaga.
The police, who did not rule out further arrests in this operation, recommend installing programs that allow security processes such as blocking the terminal, deleting data remotely, accessing or sending certain files to another computer, making copies of security files for the owner and locating the terminal in the case of loss or theft, such as proved useful in this situation.
They also highlighted the importance of using antivirus software and installing operating system updates on computers, smartphones and tablets to reduce the risk of loss of valuable information, as well as keeping the invoice for all purchases of value, which would ease identification in the event of locating a lost or stolen device.
