State deficit to May 2013 stands 6.5% lower than for same period last year

In national accounting terms, the State recorded a deficit to May 2013 of 33.34 billion euros, in spite of significant increases under such headings as expenditure on servicing debt and unemployment benefits. This equates to 3.17% of GDP and is 6.5% lower than the figure recorded in the same period last year, when it stood at 3.4% of GDP.
