According to the Interior Minister, Jorge Fernandez Diaz, the driver who was at the wheel of the bus that crashed in Avila this morning in which nine people died, RGS, 54, has been arrested by the Guardia Civil and charged with reckless homicide.
He is said to have acknowledged falling asleep at the wheel as the bus veered off a road in central Spain. Five other passenders are said to be seriously injured. Local media report that the vehicle, with thirty passagers on board, was traveling at excessive speed when the driver lost control. He was found negative in tests for alcohol and drugs.
