The whole Corvera airport thing is like a farce

Dear Editor,

1- Where are the passengers coming from. Americans flocking in to see an American theme park i dont think so. Sudden increase in the number of golfers wanting to play in that area. I heard the Inter Continental at La Torre is closing due to lack of business.

2- Passengers from the current San Javier Airport – they will lose some from those who would now be closer to Alicante with better connection services

3 Have any airlines committed to flying there.

4. Why would the military want to pay €18m – if they wait they will get it for nothing

5. Currently commercial flights pay a large contribution to the upkeep of San Javier – it would all then fall to the military if commercial airlines left.

6. I am sure the airport will open but will undoubtedly run at a big loss which will have to be picked up through taxes.

7. Will there be any public transport services to and from the airport to important towns or will it be left to the mercy of the taxi driver.
