The judge presiding over the now infamous Gürtel case, Pablo Ruz, has imposed a bond of 8 million euro for Ángel Sanchís, former treasurer to the Alianza Popular, in respect to a possible sentence for helping launder money on behalf of former treasurer of the Partido Popular, Luis Bárcenas.

The Financial office in Madrid has asked the judge to dismiss research on the destruction of the hard drives of the two computers found at the party headquarters and believed to hold data which may shed light on the dealings of Luis Bárcenas, as they say that the destruction of these items are not constituent of any crime.

The defence of the president of the Diputación de Castellón , Carlos Fabra, concluded their case at the trial that experts from the Tax Agency have declared as “contaminated”, and have made a “parallel trial” in opposition to the request for acquittal.

Officers from the Guardia Civil have arrested 48 people in four days, who were all caught picking mushrooms in the Palencia area, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Those arrested have come from various different provinces, including Alicante, and were arrested on suspicion of stealing parkland mushrooms, an activity conducted without any kind of license, with commercial assumptions. The arrests followed numerous complaints from other people concerned about the damage being caused to the area, as well as hindering the official and authorised collections.

A man, identified as José Miguel BV, who was arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant partner, identified as Carolina DCC, in Cifuentes, Guadalajara, has confessed to having thrown the limbs and head of the victim so that their dogs would eat the remains, whilst her torso was buried in a warehouse at their property.
