Anybody who has had to endure wasted days and hours at the Alicante Trafico office may breathe a sigh of relief to hear that the DGT has implemented a new system at the office, which they say will make queuing a thing of the past.
This week, Alicante has joined the scheme which has been running as a tester in a number of offices, whereas appointments are now required for those wishing to attend their office. This method of operation is now in place in 19 of their offices across Spain, which has stopped the endless waits and often having to leave without being seen, thus returning the next day to try again, as the appointment scheme provides a better control of work and time.
The system is being progressively implemented across the Dgt network, for offices that deal with penalties, vehicle registrations, driver enquiries and the likes, with over a quarter of a million satisfied customers already being dealt with by the appointment method.
Appointments can be made by telephoning the DGT, or by visiting the website, although a suitable standard of understanding of Spanish is of course required. Those with the confidence to book an appointment can visit the DGT´s website, www.dgt.es, then click on the large button marked “Cita previa para trámites”, or telephone their central office on 060.
