When all the monies collected by the wonderful team of Coachtrips Couriers and the fund raising team of AFA (Alzheimer’s Association)from the Benidorm Christmas Holiday draw, (won by Rita Monaghan), David and Shauna were able to give Executive Fund Raiser Jennie Mutter and Judy Ferris from Torrevieja’s Alzheimer’s Association the magnificent sum of €2475.
This money is particularly welcome this year as many of the previous grants and NGO support has either been dramatically reduced or ceased altogether. This, at a time when the need for the help and care for patients suffering from dementia and their families is becoming at crisis level.
The Torrevieja two clinics cover the Puma 22 health area and also are often asked to help with English speaking families living in Spanish areas where there is no such help.
We have been so very lucky this year with the terrific support from clubs. bars, drama groups and individual donations we want to thank you all so very sincerely as without this ongoing help we could not do what we do for those who need our care so very much. As an organisation we are not able to operate with just volunteers as many charities do, due to the condition and situation of our patients ( albeit we are very grateful for the help given to us by the volunteers we do have, both in the shop and at our Centres). We employ fifteen fully qualified staff who provide the therapies and care for our patients, which does cost a lot of money, but our patients not only need this professional help, but they deserve it!
