Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Day debut hits the top spot this Christmas Day on BBC One, with the highest ever rating episode for the show to date.
Hit BBC One comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys was the most-watched programme on Christmas Day in 2013, with an average audience of 9.4 million viewers and Doctor Who won the biggest peak audience with 10.2 million tuning in for the regeneration and arrival of the Twelfth Doctor.
BBC One kept tradition by coming out on top on Christmas Day with four of the top five most popular programmes.

Huge audiences shared the Christmas Day schedule on the nation’s favourite channel winning four out of the top five most popular shows. Mrs Brown’s Boys took the top spot with 9.4 million viewers, and the arrival of Peter Capaldi won the biggest peak audience of the night with 10.2 million for Doctor Who.”
Christmas Day on BBC One delivered a feast of festive treats to the nation with an exciting line-up of the very best drama, comedy and entertainment programmes. A schedule packed full of presents in the shape of a regeneration, a farewell from Matt Smith, the arrival of Peter Capaldi, and Christmas Day debuts from Danny Dyer and Mrs Brown. Specials from the joyful Call The Midwife, the sparking Strictly and TV premieres of Michael McIntyre’s Showtime and Toy Story 3.”
BBC One’s peak time average audience and all day average audience were both higher than any other channel.
