Council staff have completed maintenance work to the bases of over a hundred palm trees along the Cabo Roig Strip earlier this week.
The project involved the removal of broken pavements around the base of the trees caused by the growth of their roots over the last 20 years. All the trees were shaved at their base and the paving stones replaced with a composition of a rubber materiel.
The cost of the works was put at 34,000 euros.
Following the success of the project it is expected that similar works will continue in a number of the adjoining streets.
