The Danish Public Broadcaster were in the capitol last week to shoot a clip featuring Spain’s Eurovision representative Ruth Lorenzo for airing at the finals of the contest to be held in Copenhagen on 10 May. The filming took place in front of the Royal Astronomical Observatory in Madrid.
The film crew has spent the last 6 months travelling throughout Europe to record short presentations featuring each of the Eurovision participants which will be used to introduce them to the audience prior to their performance in the finals. In each of the clips the performer has to interpret the flag of their country in an original and fun way.
The Murcia born singer said that she cannot reveal details of the Madrid filming but she was delighted to play an active part in this venture that, day by day, brings her closer to what will be a very special night.
Lorenzo has just finished recording the video of her song. She said "They have been very demanding days because we have been recording the video. Filming was hard because there has been a lot of water involved and at one stage I thought I might be losing my voice."
She now hopes to spend a short time relaxing with her family before she embarks once again on a series of television programmes and promotions.
Ms Lorenzo, who was an X Factor finalist in 2008 as a member of ‘Team Dannii Minogue’ released the song "Dancing in the Rain" last month as one of the Spanish pre-selection entries for the 2014 contest. It quickly became number one on iTunes Spain. She then went on to win the national final called ‘Mira quién va a Eurovisión’ where she initially tied with Spanish singer Brequette. In a nail biting end Lorenzo then prevailed as the televoting winner ensuring that she will be the Spanish representative in Copenhagen at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with her song Dancing In The Rain.
The song, international pop song, with vocals in both Castilian and English, is co-written by Ruth Lorenzo along with British musicians Jim Irvin and Julian Emery.
Readers may also remember Ruth Lorenzo following her appearance in Alicante last year when she appeared on the gala concert alongside local artistes celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion.
Spain has won the contest twice, first in 1968 with the song "La, la, la" sung by Massiel and again one year later, when Salomé’s "Vivo cantando" was involved in a four way tie with, amongst others, Lulu’s "Boom Bang-a-Bang".
