Studio 32’s production of Cinderella opened to a sell out audience on Friday 14th November.
This production written by Damien Trasler, David Lovesy and Steve Clark, directed by Susan Zillah Wilson had everything you would expect from a traditional pantomime.Colourful costumes, scenery, comedy, music and dance and of course audience participation.
From the opening scene, the elegant Fairy Godmother (Diane Oliver) had the audience full of expectation and they were not disappointed.
The enthusiastic cast had the audience immediately participating with the traditional ” Buttons,Buttons, where’s your hat ‘’ and this set the tone for the rest of the evening. The biggest cheer of the night was for Buttons (Karen Love), who brought her own brand of humour to the role, throughout the show.
The part of Cinderella, was played by Stefanie Lohse, who showed what a good actress she has become, as well as her talent as a singer. Baron Hard-up (Don Wilkinson) playing his first major role for Studio 32, did not disappoint as the often confused father of Cinderella.
Dressed in some wonderful costumes (designed and made by Jean Wilkinson and her team),the two ugly sisters, Salmonella, (Margot Gay), and Listeria, (Mike Oates), provided most of the comedy with perfect timing, engaging the audience at every opportunity and thrilling them with their version of ‘The Stripper’.
Providing elegance to the proceedings were Prince Charming (Susanne Sayers) and Dandini (Jenni Hardy-Rooney) both giving faultless performances. Major Domo, (Thomas Mudd) had the audience in stiches with a series of funny walks and no doubt in the future be given the title of ‘’the funny walks man” by the members of Studio 32
The fabulous children from Footwork Dance completed the line-up, to the delight of everyone. You can see more of them in their Christmas show at the School of Music and Culture, Los Montesinos, on Sunday 14th. December at 7: 30pm.
The end of the programme saw the curtain come down to a well earned standing ovation in appreciation of an outstanding performance by the cast and crew ably led by Stage Manager Linda Myers.
What proved to be a great evenings entertainment, was just right to put everyone in the spirit for the coming festive season.
Looking to the future, the next show for Studio 32, will be the musical ‘’OKLAHOMA” to be staged in early Summer 2015. If you are interested in performing with them,or a member of the backstage crew, Studio 32 will be holding an open day on November 26th at ‘Casa Ventura’ St. Luis, from p.m.. to introduce the production.
On a last note, because of their efforts, local charities will benefit from a donation of €1500.00.
