ENVIRONMENTAL ART IN PILAR

Some of the urban walkways of Pilar de la Horadada have been given a temporary facelift this week, thanks to an exhibition that combines art, nature and architecture through a new project being conducted by the Department of Culture.

Having spent just 896 euro on the display, the areas have been transformed through the installation of artistic collaborations that highlight the beauty of the area, whilst enhancing the immediate surroundings of parks and flower gardens, combining with street art and sculptures to offer a unique experience to those with a keen eye for something a little different.

The artist Dante Márquez is responsible for the work, with symbolic imagery of the sunrise, seaside and coastal landscapes that make the town of Pilar de la Horadada an already attractive location to live, work and stay.

Spread over a 2 kilometre route, visitors will be able to see impressions of some of the local wildlife such as gulls, rabbits and even the endangered white-headed duck, so that “citizens travelling along the boulevard can discover important parts of the environment”, whilst also serving as a tourist attraction, said the mayor, José Fidel Ros, upon launching the exhibition.
