Simon Danczuk MP has been arrested in Spain following an alleged incident involving his estranged wife.
He reportedly threw Ms Danczuk’s phone in the swimming pool at their apartment in the Alicante town of Algorfa, and shouted that to her that he wanted to talk as he was escorted away by police and spent the night in an Alicante police cell.
A witness said “Police arrived and led Simon from the house in handcuffs. He had no shirt on and was shouting.”
The Rochdale MP was suspended by the Labour Party in December after he admitted sending lewd texts to a 17-year-old female.
The Foreign Office said it was providing support to a British man detained by police in Spain.
Having spent 3 nights in jail the courts in Orihuela released him on Tuesday and filed the case on account of the allegations not being accredited at the request of the prosecutor and the absence of other charges.
Neither Mr Danczuk nor Ms Danczuk were available for comment.
